- These are believed to be the real locations on which Hardy based his "ideal" locations.

To assist with searching, I have split the locations out by English county. I have grouped Oxfordshire and Berkshire together, as many of the locations that are now in Oxfordshire were, in Hardy's time, in Berkshire.
